S. Anthony on virtue and vice

“Temperance, forbearance,
prudence, endurance, patience,
and similar great and virtuous powers
have been given to us by God
and are opposed to and help us
against their corresponding vices.
If we exercise these powers
and always have them at hand,
we will find nothing difficult,
sorrowful, or unbearable.
For we will think that all things are human
and are overcome by the virtues we possess…”
